Everyone plays the Wii

Tuesday, August 21st, 2007

We had some family friends over last week and had a great BBQ.  After dinner, everyone tried out the Wii, everyone.  Here are some pictures of all the guests having a great time, even ones that would have never thought about playing video games.

When people ranging from 25 to 65 years old can play the Wii together, that means Nintendo is doing something right.

We’re still waiting a little longer to take pictures of the house.  There’s a hole in our wall that’s currently being fixed and there are some photos that we’d like to hang in the dining area.  Once that’s all done, we’ll take some pictures with the new Canon SD750 I just bought online.

Update on a lot of stuff

I’ve noticed that it’s been a while since I’ve written in the blog. Right now I’m at the McCarran Las Vegas airport waiting for Amanda to arrive. Since I’ve got about another 45 minutes before she lands and I’m just sitting here (next to a gorgeous black woman) waiting, I might as well provide an update on my birthday party.

The birthday party was great. The food was definitely scary as it consisted of mainly frozen pizzas and frozen buffalo wings which I picked up at Sam’s club. People brought beer (of course) and wine and some pumpkin pies, no one actually made anything and brought it over thus it wasn’t really a potluck. I think a few friends were a little apprehensive about the food since I usually don’t do frozen+microwave dishes.

Anyways, after we ate most the scary food, I tried to get everyone to watch the movie Shutter. I never knew this about my friends but more than half of them are afraid of watching scary movies. Boys and girls in their twenties reacted the same as a group of 9 year old girls having a sleepover and watching I Know What You Did Last Summer. Shutter was pretty damn good I gotta say, it scared me. But I would’ve been more scared if I was watching that alone. If you haven’t seen this Thai horror flick and enjoy ghostly story lines, I would recommend this one as Bob had recommended it to me. Another thing I noted about watching a scary movie is that you can’t be under the influence of alcohol. Since alcohol inhibits your fears, the fun of watching a scary movie wears off and you end up passed out on the couch.

It’s true!

It’s true! They really do have a free seafood buffet (including raw oysters) for Friday happy hour at Stella’s Fish Cafe! We went there for dinner last Friday but we went a little early to check out their Oyster Orgy Happy Hour. We couldn’t believe all that seafood was for free and it was all you can eat. We’re definitely going again this Friday!

Best freaking raw oyster

Thursday, September 14th, 2006

Last week Amanda and I went to Stella’s Fish Cafe where we had the best raw oyster that we’ve ever tasted.  We ordered a dozen blue point oysters and they came a couple lemon wedges, the usual cocktail sauce with horse radish, and then they came with this stuff called mignonette.  Their mignonette sauce in shaved ice on top of the oysters took these shell fish to the next level.  Along with the oysters I had an ahi tuna steak and Amanda had fish and chips where it was just one huge piece of walleye fillet.  Stella’s is one of the best seafood restaurants I’ve been to in the states and we’ll be sure to return, when we recover from the steep bill that is.
